Well Chidi:

Don't be too fast to celebrate, for in Nigeria's current climate of executive branch proclivity towards general disregard of court rulings and court orders, ranging from the highest point to the lowest point of the political spectrum, this Supreme Court ruling, important as it is, may also fall by the wayside. I understand that this political ill-wind of general executive branch disregard of court orders has eaten so deeply into the arteries of the political system that even parastatals and other governmental entities also routinely disregard court orders. One electrical power distribution official ruefully narrated to me how a state governor (now a senator) ordered the destruction of one of their facilities when the power distribution company disconnected electrical power supply to that state's government entities on account of debts owed by the said state government. I also learned that military barracks and police stations also disregarded court orders for them to pay up! I understand that governmental entities are among the highest debtors to power suppliers despite court orders to pay up. That's is the Nigeria that exists today? When the rot starts from the top, this is the kind of inevitable trickle down outcome that you should expect!

There is no Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria known or called "Justice Olubolade Joe."

Okey Iheduru,
It may be that the (citizen) reporter got the name wrong.

Are you insinuating that this is fake news?

This would be an earth-shaking news that would headline all news outlets in and outside Nigeria. Can you point to anywhere else--print and electronic--the "news" of the so-called judgement was reported?

Victor,
We published the news under "U-Report", meaning that a "Citizen Reporter" sent it in, like CNN's "I-Report".

We usually take steps to ensure that such reports are authentic, but those steps are not perfect, sometimes, despite all efforts, errors slip in.

If the news turns out to be fake, we will pull it down and apologize.

Meanwhile, we were not the only outlet that published it.

Read the news in another medium here: https://elombah.com/update-supreme-court-nullifies-powers-of-state-governors-to-sack-lg-chairmen/
