Dear All:

What say yee about the following oddity? Does it come across as a classic case of the victim being doubly victimized? Does it run contrary to what appears to have emerged recently within Nigeria as a national momentum against student sexual exploitation and victimization by their instructors-of-record? Given what has been reported here, are we now to assume that student sexual exploitation applies only to situations where the exploited is a female, but when the exploited student is a male, he is to be treated as the aggressor and his instructor of record is held as the victim? Where are we?

Thankfully, this story is a hoax and no such expulsion occurred. My sources at FU Lafia and the university itself have denied the story.

Professor Ochonu:
What surprises me though is that the original news story contains specifics, including the said student's area of study, his appearance before a university disciplinary board and his self-defense. It is possible that your sources at the affected university were either not aware of the said expulsion incident or sought to protect the institution by denying that the event ever happened. Is there a channel by which the affected student could be reached? Or, is it a case in which no such student exists?

Press Release
Re: Student of FULafia Impregnates Lecturer

The attention of Management of Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has been drawn to a story which has gone viral on the social media to the effect that one “Kelvin,” said to be a student of Computer Science Department of FULafia, has impregnated a lecturer of the department.
This story cannot be further away from falsehood.

Therefore, the Management wishes to state categorically that the story is nothing but a fabrication by the writer, mischievous and aimed at destroying the good image and reputation of Federal University of Lafia because no such incident has happened in the university.
The general public is hereby advised to disregard the purported story.

The Management of Federal University of Lafia will continue to maintain high moral standard in the university.

Abubakar Ibrahim
Head, Information and Public Relations.

It looks suspicious to me. Can't they fish out Kelvin who wrote it.
Anything can happen in Nigeria and this is one of such.

"The story cannot be further away from falsehood."

This doesn't read like a denial. Perhaps Farooq can help "kowashiate" or "interpreter" this sentence for us?
