Our good friend, a member of this list, died this afternoon of COVID.

I was with him on December 22nd at Abuja, with Jibrin Ibrahim and our other great friends. As usual, great arguments.

Ebere gone! Only about a week ago I was poking fun at him for taking a chieftaincy title in his hometown in late December. This will hurt for a very long time.

May his soul rest in peace. Amen!

Prof. wrote "Our good friend, a member of this list, died this afternoon of COVID.  I was with him on .... " and part of a response is "But how are we sure that he died of Covid-19?" - really? Of what use is the skepticism at this time?

I just spoke to his son and the announcement stands .. May Prof Ebere Onwudiwe rest in peace. He was a great man ..

We always met at our annaul ASA meeting before he returned home. We even had a lively debate on his book Afro-optimism at one of these conferences. This is a very sad news. May his soul rest in peace!

So sad to learn of the passing of Ebere Onwudiwe. 

May his soul Rest In Peace. To the family and friends, may the Divine give you Strength and Comfort at this very trying times.

Ebere Onwudiwe

 

With deep sadness and submission to the will of God, we announce the sudden death of Chief Prof. Ebere Onwudiwe, Mba 1 of Isunjaba, due to the complications of the global pandemic, on January 9, 2021. Prof. Onwudiwe was a man who loved his family and friends.  He held from Isunjaba, Imo State, Nigeria. Prof. Onwudiwe was an author, a columnist, and a social commentator of issues relating to Nigeria and Africa. Before relocating to his beloved country Nigeria, Prof. Onwudiwe was the Director of the Center for African Studies at Central State University, Wilberforce, Ohio, where he served as Professor Emeritus. We will provide information about his burial arrangement soon.
