hereby announces the 2020
Olabisi Falola Scholarship
Objective of the Scholarship
Dr. Toyin Falola and Mrs. Olabisi Falola hereby institute a scholarship scheme to benefit young people graduating from university who seek to pursue philosophy as an academic discipline, and advance the discipline in a variety of ways. For the 2020 competition, only final year Philosophy students from the University of Ibadan will be considered.
The aim of the scholarship is to contribute to the development of philosophy as a discipline, as well as pursuing the means to spread its relevance.
Award Amount
The award will be N100,000 given in one installment.
Administration of the Award
The process of advertisement, evaluation of applications, selection of candidates, verification of claims and documents, monitoring of progress, disbursement of award, and sundry other related tasks shall be undertaken by the Toyin Falola Center on behalf of Toyin and Olabisi Falola, the grantors.
Criteria for selection
The scholarship will be awarded to a student who demonstrates high academic achievement and promise in the discipline of philosophy. Two criteria shall be considered:
Is there a future for philosophy as a discipline in Nigeria?
Application dates
Applications may be submitted every year between May 1, 2020, and July 15, 2020. The selected candidate for each year will be announced by August 15, 2020.
Submission of documents
Candidates must ensure that all documents are sent in a single email as one attachment to Ms. Anna Lee Carothers <annalee....@utexas.edu> between May 1, 2020, and July 15, 2020. Documents arriving late for any reason at all will not be considered.
Documents may be scanned and emailed to Ms. Anna Lee Carothers <annalee....@utexas.edu>.
Jurors for the scholarship selection committee will be announced in the near future.

well known for their wonderful philanthropic spirit in other ways. They, therefore, deserve unlimited praise for their prompt efforts to make sure that as Africa loses its very able
Philosophers either through death or active retirement due to old age, there is an instant replenishment. Anybody, who can add to the monetary prize for Olabisi Falola
Scholarship should not hesitate to contribute to such a worthy cause! Indeed, before his untimely death, the legendary Chief M.K.O. Abiola was a generous benefactor for similar
causes, and he is sorely missed in the philanthropic arena. We thank God Almighty for the Falolas of Texas, USA!
