Very good news. Unfortunately for the country if he had applied for VC of University of Abuja, or Lagos, or Ife, or ABU or others outside his SE geopolitical zone in Nigeria, he would automatically be excluded for not being a native. Something that must be stopped. To his credit Jonathan began to reverse that trend with the new federal universities he started; but things went back to usual ( and got worse) after Jonathan left office.

Being a "diaspora," Prof. Egbu might even have more difficulty getting appointed VC of any Catholic university in Nigeria, and a lot more difficulty successfully winning the vice chancellorship of any of the state or federal universities in the SE geo-political zone of Nigeria. Even if he gets the VC job, he's unlikely to last more than six months on the job, unless he's willing to go against everything he's stood for over the years. It's very, very bad, my brother!
