I learned the hard way that the diplomatic response is: “West Africans owe a debt of gratitude to the Wolof people of Senegal and Gambia for gifting the world this marvelous dish. Every West African country has wonderful jollof rice, although I myself am partial to Nigerian party jollof.”

I’m still picking my Ghanaian friends’ teeth from my body for my initial (joking) response in Essence to the question you just posed.
