Professor Tanure Ojaide, a member of our list, lost his mother. She was 93.

I won’t cry over this one, but request an Owambe party in July when we do the celebration of life.

Tanure, a poem is not enough! Na poem we go chop?

Mama has gone to rest!
Long walk on the sand;
Walks she no more on the earth!
Adieu, Mama!

Permanent retirement at the age is not bad.
Memories of the past will keep the living ones alive and joyous,
Life accomplishments - a record many want but may never get.
A record many never broke.

As adults-children with mothers today live to see their mothers for more years
So do those without think about and talk and talk and talk endlessly about the souls of their beloved that have moved to the next, endless phase.

Mama, rest in perfect peace as you fly to your Creator!

And to Prof. Tanure Ojaide and family,
Hear this voice from Ngugi Wathiongo:

"Weep not child;
Child, weep not.
My darling, with these kisses,
Let me remove your tears."

Your mother has sent a message.
May her soul rest pleasantly in her new abode!
And may you feel comfortable as you recall the past -the time you spent together!
She's gone -gone to the land where no one returns!
"Condolence to you and your family" the voice of the moment!
May you sail through your grief time!

So sorry to hear. No matter how old they turn out to be, it's always an touch, and we still have to miss them when they leave us. May the family and friends be comforted!
