In fact, yesterday I got this message from a Pro-Trump Bro from Minnesota ( a an anti-Abortion Roman Catholic:

It is Election Day Tuesday!  Would you join me to PRAY + FAST for two days?   Monday and Tuesday!!!   🙏🏻🔥

Get on our knees and ask for GOD's Holy Will for the Election results.”

Surely Comrades,

The election cannot be reduced to a single issue, namely the Abortion issue and their hope that all the women who feel strongly about this as a part of their essential freedom, will vote overwhelmingly for their Kamala. Now that Trump is being painted as the “Father of the Nation”  - thereby waking up diverse strong emotions , the same question pops up, as when Chinua Achebe is sometimes referred to as the “ Father of African Literature” - the question "Then who is the Mother?”  In the case of the United States, the menopausal Kamala is certainly old enough but even if she wins, will she be regarded as the grand matriarch when a whole lotta Americans will want to point out that their ancestors are / were not Black?

There are the kinnots forTisha B’Av about mothers losing their babies in ways that would make even a heart of granite shed some hysterical tears. Throwing out the baby with the bathwater is bad enough, but where is the wailing and gnashing of teeth about the hundreds of millions of foetuses piled high, like the tower of Babel, up to the sky?

The issue about “the right to decide over my own body” could also be extended to the right to commit suicide and further down the road, in time,, euthanasia could well be an election issue in the United States. Haven’t given it much thought since dwelling on it a little in Chapter 1, “Death” , in Thomas Nagel's "Mortal Questions” and elsewhere where Thomas Nagel deliberates on euthanasia

It should be profitable for all concerned to pay some attention to Torbjörn Tännsjo a Swedish philosopher of lost causes weighing in on abortion and on euthanasia

Turn, turn any corner. Hear, you must hear what the people say.

For Kamala H, the song could have well started,

“It was the 5th of November,

A day, I’ll always remember

Because that was the day that

(something happened ) “ -

The Temptations : Papa Was a Rolling Stone

The other song is from Dylan’s John Wesley Harding

In which case it’s a straight choice between the one that begins

“I pity the poor immigrant

Who wishes he would've stayed home

Who uses all his power to do evil

But in the end is always left so alone”

And the other one:

“John Wesley Harding

Was a friend to the poor

He travelled with a gun in every hand

All along this countryside

He opened a many a door

But he was never known

To hurt an honest man”

The 5th of November is finally upon us and in this interregnum period the USA-Africa Dialogue Series is now in some kind of doldrums, limbo, not exactly comatose, but no one is about to be traditionally verbose either, because there’s too much at stake ; at the University where Tiger Y of the lumpen proletariat and Panther X are earning their daily bread and peanut butter, the head of the political science faculty or race-relations sociology may be either black or white, could be male or female, transgender or in-between, could be Aryan,  Semite, anti-Semite, African, could be pro-reparations or anti-reparations, could be Pro-Kamala, anti-Kamala or Pro-Trump and it’s a free country alright but you don’t want to offend or antagonise your head of department or boss by “speaking truth to power”. When it’s the worldly power that’s giving you your daily portion, it’s not the best time for declaring your true feelings or to be seen to be sitting on the wrong side of the fence. You saw how many professors and some junior staff too got into hot waters, some even lost their jobs for supporting pro-Hamas/ Pro-Palestine demonstrations or for committing the cardinal sin, the unforgivable crime of antisemitism, and that’s why some people are keeping their lips tightly buttoned and are laying low.

This is an election like no other. The air is tense with expectations about the second coming of Trump or much worse, Kamala. According to reliable news sources, the National Guard is on standby and on high alert and ready to deal with any kind of shit that may happen, such as the possible insurrection that may erupt, the low intensity warfare which could have the potential to flare into a second bloody Civil War. So, Homeland Security is not taking any chances in case some militias are sent to upset the counting houses. Relatively speaking, right now, and for the next twenty four hours we will only be experiencing the calm before the storm, the deluge, the tornado, the hurricane, the tsunami ,”the fire next time “, unless of course Brother Trump wins by a landslide; if it’s a close shave then anything could happen..

As Trump has already told y’all, if we don't win, this could very well be the last election that will ever be held in the United States

First of all, a well-deserved Mighty, Hearty Mazel Tov, Congratulations, Kudos  to the Champion, the Marvellous, Magnificent, Magnanimous Donald J Trump , the 47th President Elect of the United States!

Gracious in victory, he wants to heal the country !

US Stocks soar !

At this moment when the Democrat Party Pundits are biting their fingernails doing their post-mortems on “Where did we go wrong?” - along with them you are of course resurrecting what you said in my post, “ A short note on Rep. Jim Clyburn saying “ We're ridin' with Biden”

You said that it was a done deal, and now you’re wondering how is Jim Clyburn, the grandee old Black Man of the Democrat  Party, feeling ?

I guess he’s feeling pretty awful - along with wannabe First Gentleman Doug Emhoff, and the Kamaala choir lead by Oprah and the chorus line comprising Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Cardi B, Lady Gaga, all of them must be feeling awful

Kamala the wannabe is still in hiding, licking her wounds, disappointed, of course, still vicious since she has been overwhelmingly rejected at the polls by by her American people, men and women, Semites, anti-Semites, Red, Yellow,  Brown - like herself, Black and last but not least, White voters on the whole said NO - and as you know, hell has no fury like a woman scorned.

So she’s going to address her fans from a pulpit at Howard ? Well, she tried so desperately to convince the womenfolk ( the more than 89 million that are registered to vote ) to hate  and despise Trump and to vote for her, but apparently she  didn't succeed. We didn't see much of Hillary Clinton assiduously supporting her on the campaign trail either.

Was she pushing the colour business too far, as if policy is personified by colour? Brother Obama didn’t do that.

She probably dodged attending Netanyahu’s address to Congress in the vain hope that that would harvest for her, the Arab and Muslim vote , even while shooting from the other corner of her mouth, while the carnage , 17, 300 Children killed in Gaza,  the carnage in the West Bank and the carnage in Lebanon was in full force, her favourite mantra “ Israel has a right to defend itself”  ( Unfortunately, since it's secret ballot we will never be able to tell exactly how Israel's enemies,  including the wanton anti-Semites and the anti-Zionists voted)

To what extent can you blame her for her ignominious defeat and all that campaign money, down the drain  ?

First of all, their own critics complain that there was no Democrat/ic convention, there was only a coronation - of her, she was imposed as THE Candidate . After which the Black opposition within her own ranks started telling us about all the stuff they had against her, beginning with when as a state attorney she was a prosecutor-in-Chief of Black People

There were also all the Black pastors and diverse Black women lined up against her so much of that on YouTube.

I’d like to take great exception and object vehemently against somebody’s perception that “ It's a race war, and the majority are winning!” To begin with, that doesn't explain why Barack Obama won back in 2008.

There are those who say that if - God forbid - Kamala had won, it would have been the backdoor way to four more years of the Obama - Biden Administration

Needless to say, Kamala Harris is of course no Barack Obama. She lacks the charisma

Dr Oohay,

A subsidiary question:

What was the sad result of all her efforts on the campaign trail, as a holier-than-thou wannabe first black female president of the United States contrasting herself by forever smirking as she was blasting Trump as a “felon”, “ I know Donald Trump's type” etc etc ad nauseam and agitating that women should have one more right, “the right to decide over their own bodies” which she equates with the right to determine on behalf of their unborn babies, whether they should live or die, depending on the pregnant woman's correct ethical or unethical answer to their babies unvoiced “ to be or not to be, that is the question”

The sad result was that she lost

She lost due to her ineptitude - what you refer to as her “STRATEGIC ERRORS —all based on certain DEI fallacies”;  she didn’t win, which in turn means that the more than $1 Billion campaign funding has all gone up in unholy smoke and some of the generous donors are complaining.

Questions for you:  So, how do you think that the investors are feeling, and should it be OK if they would like to have their money back?

I was thinking of him ( Fritz)  the other day when  it was splashed all over the WWW,  that Joe Biden, slip of the tongue / Freudian slip, or deliberate or unconscious but vengeful sabotage of Kamala Harris, said that Maestro Trump’s supporters were not “ deplorables” a more sophisticated Hillary Clinton term,, but  “garbage”

Hi Gloria,

True, it’s all about the $$ - too many people are willing to sell their souls (on both sides of the aisle) even if it leaves their neighbor to starve – literally.

We may very well be witnessing the slow fall of Rome (aka USA) in our lifetime.

The combination of greed for money and power is truly at the center (I would say heart – but there is no heart here).

People will pontificate ad nauseum about this election, so be it. After this email, I’ll keep quiet –  just adding my 2 cents of ad nauseum.

We all know our neighbors, who somehow think voting for a rich man or woman with power is the same as getting or being rich or having power yourself. In this case, also many people will not admit it in public, but they are twistedly aroused by someone who cheats and steals just because he can (not out of desperation to survive like some poor person). All I can say is God forgive us for our collective ignorance and lack of morality.

The shock is in not being surprised by the outcome, just angry. This clip was sent to me to share frustration, but I think it is a cold, hard reminder of “What Goes Around Comes Around”.  If you cannot open this video, you can find her clips at @bitchhappens on Tik Tok.

Don’t think you’ll be left out of the culling under this next administration and please remember, for those of you who idolize this person, what he already thinks of Africa – so don’t even try to think he gives a shake about you.

I am speaking as an American to the world and sharing our culture – take it or leave – we will still be here.

Now here is what the Woman speaking Frustration – expects from our better half – the other 47% (also shared by a friend):

Thanks for the pithy explanation and the acknowledgement that when talking about the future, for most Americans the main concern is the pocket, because the pocket is where it hurts or could hurt the most.

That was and still is the reality, this  election season, and in the background, it’s permanent and swelling, getting higher and higher :The United States is in debt to an astounding tune of $36 trillion and that’s why the major Republican priority is to downsize, cut down BIG GOVERNMENT.

All we saw was the Democrats dear Kamala prancing around on the campaign trail, trying to entice the smokers to vote for her by promising to liberate recreational marijuana at the federal level and even after being wiped out at the polls with regard to big government, in her concession speech all she was still saying was

“I will never give up the fight for a future where Americans can pursue their dreams, ambitions, and aspirations. Where the women of America have the freedom to make decisions about their own body and not have their government telling them what to do”

Kamala Harris is not speaking now

Jamaine and Gloria, take heart at this heartless moment.  My Akan people (and I suppose yours too) have a proverb for everything and every moment in life and they provide context and comfort.

My people have two proverbs for those who thought exactly as Abidogun argues. They say that if you roast your tongue for dinner, you have not eaten any desirable meal. This may be the Akan version of cutting one’s nose to spite one’s face,  or slapping one’s face to swat a hovering fly.  But there is another and even better caution:  if you cast a bad spell to provoke your neighbors, you will be affected by it eventually.  Or if you poison the village river hoping that it will kill your enemies, you will soon join them when you are thirsty. These are the closest English translations of “wo to adu bone a, ebi ka w’ano“.

My Kinsman TF will agree that Akan proverbs are prologues to “Ancestral Studies 101.“  It is these proverbs that keep me sane when Rousseau’s “social contract“ political theory, and the promises of liberal democracy produce perplexing contradictions.

Medaase, Edward, for the wisdom and the understanding.

I agree, we are each if us our sisters & brothers keepers.

My prayer is always first and foremost for those of us who cause suffering that we may heal and those of us who are suffering that we may heal. We are truly interdependent beings.

As you rightly assert,  the Ancestors knew this, so we should learn from them and live accordingly. With that, justice sometimes is the teacher that heals, so
that's why the good fight must continue with eyes wide open to ensure equity and accountability for us all.

Thank you for the instructive proverbs.

Peace,
Jamaine

Dr. Oohay,

Respectfully, I, Edward Kissi, am the person who discussed those interpreted Akan proverbs here, not Jamaine Abidogun. So if your quest for the logic, figures of speech, and essence of those proverbs are directed at me indirectly, there are actually many Akan proverbs that restrain me from responding, particularly proverbs about “the wise“, “the provocateur“, and “the fleet-footed“ in society.

If you want to give me an assignment on the logic and structure of the Akan proverbs I discussed, let me give you some reading assignments too, because one provocation deserves another.

If you really need enlightenment and deep thinking on the logic, essence, and structure of Akan proverbs, I entreat you to google up and read some of the many articles that Kwasi Wiredu, and Kwame Gyekye have published on the philosophy, logic, and structure of Akan proverbs.

I am a little surprised at the insistence that someone explain the proverbs. A teacher does not explain the proverb, they provide it, so the student may reflect, research, apply, and grow.  My response to Edward Kissi was to respond with my application of how I interpret the proverbs he presented.

We have both played our role as teacher and student correctly. That is what I meant by saying that applying Western education-based analysis is the incorrect epistemological application.
