Trump wants to take control of the world's largest library
Oluwatoyin Adepoju, I’m not exaggerating, I know that a mere mention of the word “library” makes you start sweating with excitement, drooling or and salivating mentally in great anticipation of some awesome mouth-watering "things" such as The Bodleian or the Library of Alexandria resuscitated not to mention some of the manuscripts, art treasures and other delights buried deep in the Archives of the Vatican
Trump vs Higher Education being such a topical issue ( with Fareed Zakaria’s’ latest Trump’s war on Harvard is bizarre — and incredibly damaging adding fuel to the fire) it's easy to assume that the control freak’s latest desire is part of that war effort and therefore, inevitably, the spectre of “Trump wants to take control of the world's largest library” must be a matter of great concern to you, probably giving you heart palpitations, agony and great anguish of mind. You fear the very worst, but take it easy ; the headline says he “wants to take control”, the headline doesn’t say he ”wants to destroy the world’s largest library”
And how do you feel about the new philistine, Goliath-the-greatest peacemaker not only wanting to take complete control of Gaza (to transform it into a Riviera Paradise, he says) but also wanting to take control of the Library of Congress?
My initial gut reaction was misgivings about Trump's earlier troubles concerning classified documents that were said to be housed privately in his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, some time ago
Over to you
Sad story.
I've had to call friends in the US to help me come to terms with this tragic situation by sharing their views with me.
Its a complex situation.
Thanks
Toyin
