Subject: renovated Rockefeller wing at the Metropolitan Museum of New York

Friday's Weekend Arts section of the New York Times features a 3 page, elaborately detailed in both prose and image, of the newly reopened Rockefeller wing of the Met, which has been closed for about 4 years.  It is a transformative display of art from Africa, Oceana and the Americas.  The reopening has been covered by other media, I believe in the New Yorker and elsewhere, so that the firewall the paper has erected should not prevent any of you from finding an access point.
I am overwhelmed with regret that Dan Strehl did not live long enough to learn about and visit this transformed museum wing.  So much of the Malian and Nigerian art (and more) that he treasured  is exalted in this new airy gallery.  Dan would have gone nuts over it.
I hope you all get a chance to either visit the museum (unlikely for me) or at least get the vicarious thrill of sampling it via media.
I have tried my best to include all those whom I could remember were in Africa through K (alas, Moses is also gone as are John Peterson and Bill Pruitt),  but please do me the favor of either sharing this or otherwise awakening others who might enjoy a tour, physical or virtual, of the treasures from West Africa that star in the show.
Love to you all!
David
