Sweet and Gentle - from  Don Byron plays the music of Mickey Katz

Whereas Trump croaks, his military intervention in Nigeria  will be "Fast, Vicious & Sweet"

It should therefore come as no surprise that Soyinka questions Trump’s mental state over violent remarks about Nigeria

It’s a well-known saying that “Those whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad

It’s not only Trump’s persona-non-grata Soyinka that’s asking questions about Trump’s mental state

What else to expect from a Trump who apparently, faithfully believes that there’s an ongoing genocide of his White Akrikaner people in post-Aparthied South Africa?

And South Africa’s Afrikaners are overwhelmingly Christian

Does he threaten that he will go in “ guns-a-blazing “ and that it’s gonna be "Fast, Vicious & Sweet" ?

However, to those who hate Trump or don’t love him that much, it should still be fair to view him as the catalyst even if you don’t believe that he was “sent by God” to give the wake up call to the current powers that be in Nigeria, to stem the the tide of the alleged, ongoing “Christian genocide”

Of this we can be sure  :It could not have happened during Muhammadu Buhari's first coming, but Nigeria was different then, very different  because back then ( 1984-85)  there was only the Maitatsine Sect, an early precursor to the later militancy of Boko Haram ( as a reaction to the wanton extrajudicial murder of their leader Muhammad Yusuf

It's amazing how current events can re-direct our attention away from earlier plans and routines, to what’s topical, so that you find, to your chagrin that having mentioned the reality,  -no joking matter, including the posthumous reality of those designated as Nigeria's Christian martyrs  - the subject of Christian martyrdom, Jesus allegedly saying to the thief on the cross, “ Today, you will be with me in paradise”, and the whole idea of the resurrection, and “the afterlife”, living some sort of life beyond this vale of tears, could take centre stage, for another few brief moments. The last time I was occupied with the idea of  Christian Martyrdom was way back in 1965 - studying T.S.Eliot’s “Murder in the Cathedral” for my “A” levels, deep diving back then into the life and times of  Archbishop Thomas Becket

Most recently I have been taking a look at Ignatius of Antioch and look forward  What else Bart Ehrman has to say about Ignatius of Antioch apart from this :

https://ehrmanblog.org/ignatius-eager-to-be-eaten-by-the-wild-beasts/

And what about Islamic notions of martyrdom and  the astounding numbers of  Nigeria's Muslim Martyrs? Is Trump not also concerned about stemming that tide?

It remains to be seen whether or not it will be some more toothless and useless decrees issuing from Trump’s presidential lips and pen, to strike “Fast, Vicious & Sweet"

Both the Bible and the Quran says that he who saves one life it is as if he has saved all mankind….

How does all of the above fit in with

Spinoza’s philosophy
