I want to point out that since I started following very closely, what’s been happening in the Middle East, since January 1986 till now, from 1986 - 1996 entirely from an Islamic perspective (and I didn’t do that for a living) and from circa 1996 when Netanyahu took over as Israel’s youngest prime minister ever, and I covered the Israeli media six days a week, every time that the Israelis committed an atrocity/transgression or abomination "the gates of hell" always popped up as part of the essential hectic, heated and threatening Palestinian vocabulary - that “Israel has opened up the gates of hell” - the Hamas or the Islamic Jihad spokesman would be threatening, sometimes be followed by a spate of suicide bombing especially during the first intifada and the second intifada, both of which I followed very closely, and now it's the other way around, and it’s mostly the Israeli military hat has been saying lately, that “Hamas has opened the gates of hell.”
On this Orthodox Christmas day, a few days later because the Orthodox follow the Julian calendar, the message is still, “Peace on earth and goodwill to all men” ( women, and children

I say, “Thanks to thee” guardedly, and don’t want to be misunderstood, because I’m still singing Carlos Santana’s Life is Anew and Bob Dylan’s If not for You , and concerning the garden and the pleasures to be found therein, this fine line “Oh, oh, what a night, oh what a garden of delight” from Paul Simon’s song “Duncan”, still rings, so true, so true….
First of all, thanks to you, yesterday I revisited the theme of the Garden of Eden @Torah.com and found some treasures therein.
Second of all - and this is serious, I then betook myself to Facebook, and the Hindu in me (as always, adhering to the universal principle of “no beef”) carefully deleted anything, religion-wise, that has to do with blood - in essence, the very foundation of the Hebrew Faith which is also the foundation stone of Christianity, hence all that talk about “The Blood of Jesus” - the doctrine of transubstantiation , going back to origins, Cain and Abel ( lots of blood there - God ( the blood-thirsty?) accepts the blood sacrifice of Abel’s innocent lambs, and not Cain's bloody bloodless Vegetables). BTW, studying medicine was never an option for the simple reason that I just can’t stand the sight of blood or of even an injection needle, or the sight of the carcass of a dead animal hanging in a butcher’s shop -

I’d just like to point out that on the 5th of September, 2017, live and direct, I heard David Grossman tell us at the International Writers Scene at our Culture House over here in Stockholm, that in his Jerusalem neighbourhood, he and other Jerusalemites had to send their children off to school in different buses ( not in the same bus) for families to avoid - God forbid - all their children being blown up because they were all in the same bus.
You know the scenario, back then: Allahu Akbar!
a frail-looking young man ( Palestinian) boards a bus in Jerusalem, he’s wearing an overcoat a size or two, too big for him, the sleeves of the coat down to his fingertips - raising the suspicion that he could be another suicide bomber, and true to what has been said that everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die, the result is that everybody who sees this young man with the oversize raincoat getting on board the bus want gets the uncanny suspicion that this could be a Palestinian suicide -bomber and so they want to dive for cover / get off the bus IMMEDIATELY
