Feminine fingers.
Fondling.
Flabby phallus.
Luscious love pod.

Her fondling failed
To fire his libido,
To flare his flabby phallus.
Her luscious love pod
Agape,
Failed
To tug him to turgidity.
Her fluid flowed,
His libido failed.

He spewed no semen
And sired no scions,
Their nuptial not consummated.

Years of connubial pretence
And conjugal duties not performed,
The celebrations of impotency,
The anniversaries of nothing.

Chidi: Chill!

Consider these words: Surat al Kauthar

You must admit that, both in texture, tone and intention, your poem (“a social service”?) is a far cry from John Donne’s The Anniversary!

True: A revolution such as the one that you have in mind may have been inspired by a bawdy line such as “ The American Century betrayed by a mad Senate which no longer sleeps with its wife.”, but, there are daughters/ beautiful ladies/ mothers/ sisters/ wives /aunts/even grandmothers present, so no more obscenities from you please! Please! O rare you being inspired by that saucy wench, that so-called “ Ugandan poet”

In a spirit of of nationalism/ Pan-Africanism, holier-than-thou is looking forward to some “Good News Nigeria Anthology of Poetry” which will include a revolutionary or patriotic poem or two from you, in celebration of 60 long years of Naija Independence, even if Western Europe is supposed to have made more progress (1948 – 2008) than Nigeria (1960 – 2020) mostly thanks to the Marshall Plan

About this independence thing, well here are some not so poetic thoughts about it, from Facebook
