And that Empire is still the chief purveyor of Christianity with the USA trying to propagate “American Values” in China, France and the Académie Française of course preaching “Liberté, égalité, fraternité” and that’s why Francophone Africa (the former French colonies such as Senegal, Ivory Coast etc. still have their Central Bank located in Paris and are still faithfully paying their post-colonial taxes to France...
Some of us ordinary fellows don’t know that much about Haiti, maybe a smattering of C.LR. James’s The Black Jacobins, some doctoral students hoping to start acting like the “Papa Doc” of their subject areas as soon as their dissertations are approved, other ordinary fellows like Tabou Combo, and yet still other ordinary fellows and fellow refugees have listened to Fugees, followed the career of Aristide, were all horrified by the 2010 Haiti earthquake which firmly put Haiti back on the map again, pricked world consciousness and conscience and now most lately these demonstrations to oust the latest disaster, guilty as hell and still ensconced in the presidential palace.
Obviously, the world wide justice system has to be de-colonised and re-formed so that the colonialists and the impies, the slave owners and plantation managers, even those long dead once resurrected can be brought to justice and compelled to pay their debts, the compensations and the reparations retroactively.
Compelled to pay their debts? The missionaries will be at the forefront of those who disagree with such a proposition and to their advantage they will quote from “The Lord’s Prayer” the line that goes, “and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us” – “trespasses” having conveniently been interpreted and translated as “debts” – except that you can’t take that “and forgive us our trespasses” to the IMF and the World Bank…
The fact of the matter is that Haiti is till being punished because the Haitians dared to successfully rebel against the slavers. In the meantime there are some token gestures such as Dany Laferrière, who, like Senghor before him has joined the Académie Française, the guardians and protectors of the French Language Empire ( and this thought along the same trajectory:
Just as D. Litt Falola - if only he was not domiciled in the US would most probably be rewarded with a K.C.M.G. for his services to the English Language Empire and to Humanity, but for the fact that the Americans ( American Empire) would like to claim a monopoly over him and thereby decorate him with a something such as a Presidential Medal of Freedom before Nigerians (Federal Republic of Nigeria) institute a special honour on his behalf, an insignia to be named “Star of Africa”. The fact of the matter being that for now and all posterity, Africa's decorated intellectual leaders are more likely to amass a greater following (from here to eternity...
