My view is that PMB became a lame duck president:

When the current flag bearer of the APC lashed out at him in the acerbic speech in which, among other things, he noted emphatically that he made him President ipso facto it was now his turn. (Note the comments of the chairman of the APC after that speech).

When he failed to promote the Senate Speaker–Lawan–as his consensus candidate after his pleas to the party to give him the same power as (APC) governors to do so.

When he was dealt a deadly blow by Northern APC governors over the issue of zoning.

At this point, in my judgment, it might behoove Mr. President to concentrate on his legacy– implementation of a flawless Electoral Act Bill, for example, that could lead to a peaceful transition of power in 2023.
