The shame of a nation summed up in one event program. "spiritual warfare" is now the official counter-insurgency doctrine of the Nigerian army. Professor OBC Nwolise laughs last. I apologize to him and his ilk. And I give up on Nigeria.

Teach the poor dreaming preacher guy old Paolo Frere. Then force down his throat a dose of Musoveni laced with Jerry Rawlings because he may faint if you mention Karl Marx without softening him with appropriate revolutionary innoculation. .Most of us remain somewhat ineducable regarding socio-political processes and the dynamics of transformation. Nigerians think we will be saved by sweetest homily and political cosmetics...salvation will begin to gestate with the wings or claws of re-birth when we purge ethnicity and primitive acquisition from our consciousness, all those things which provoke the desire for Northern President or Southern President, Igbo President or Kukuruku President or Yoruba President and so forth...all those things which spur us to declare and demand that it is OUR turn to rule,  a rather crazy euphemism for it is our turn to go and steal everybody's money and share it with my own people or my friends, or appropriate it for my self only. That is the capsule of our malaise and irremediable condition.

Dear Moses:

Please don't give up on Nigeria; you should instead "give in to" Nigeria. I'm currently in Abuja -- have been here for three months now.

As a matter of fact, I've been trying to reach you --I would like to recruit you as the Co-PI for my project proposal to organize 52 All-Night Vigils and Dry Fast for the Operation Lafya Dole troops before they set out for battle with the Boko Haram insurgents. The contract for Operation Python Dance in Igboland has already been taken. I know of one Rev. Fr. No Skaking, a very most famous Man of God in Imo State, who will lead the Spiritual Warfare and finally give it to the "miscreants."

Please my brother, all this finest turanci you've been spewing on this listserv, now is the time to finally make use of it. The rewards are limitless -- you'll soon build two plazas in Abuja and buy ocean front flats in Dubai. Go there and see your age mates. Na grammar we go chop? Leave that one for Farooq joo! :).

Seriously, it has, indeed, come to this for Nigeria at 59! Very, very sad. Dan Banza, Nigerian Army!!!

When I saw the news story in the Punch and the graphic of the spiritual warfare event, I was too weak to comment on it on social media. The first people that came to my mind were Moses and and Oga Okey.

Since I don't have Oga Okey's cellphone number, I just forwarded the link and the graphic to Moses on WhatsApp. I frankly didn't know what else to do. As we say Nigerian Pidgin English, e weak mean die.

The goverment and its generals went from "killing" Boko Haram commander Abubakar Shekau multiple times and having a victory party in the Presidential Villa, to "technically defeating" the group, to bragging about being the "government that ended Boko Haram," and to again fighting the same "technically defeated" and "ended Boko Haram" through spiritual warfare.

I don tire abeg!

Oga Okey, make you dey be careful about wetin you talk as you dey Abuja nau o! "Insulting" the president is now a state crime, and only the president's men have the exclusive right to define what presidential insult is. Ehen, I don warn you o.

Okey, be careful in Abuja so their spiritual warfare does not consume you as collateral damage. Also, I'm not sure I can help your prayer and fasting spiritual warfare battalion as I have since lost my motivation to pray for Nigeria, or to engage with Nigeria in any professional capacity. Prayers tend to make Nigerian leaders recommit to their inane ways. Today's event shows that the battle to salvage something from the sinking ship is officially lost. But thank you for bearing witness from the scene of the crime.
