Naming and re-naming is a political strategy of erasing memory. The same thing went with the following:
- Musée du Trocadero (19th century), Musée de l'Homme (1934), Musée du quai Branly (2006)
- Rijksmuseum voor Volkenkunde, Leiden, to Museum voor Weredlculturen (Museum for World Cultures), (2010)
- Ethnologishes Museum Wien to Welt Museum Wien (World Museum of Vienna), (2012)
- Ethnologishes Museum Berlin to Humboldt Forum (2020 or 2021), etc.

is every parallel act admirable? is every change liberation? myanmar, renamed by a truly evil dictatorship??
congo to zaire to congo.... all this to be likened to sankara's renaming of upper volta? no, not really the same at all at all.

when, also, do people reappropriate names? like cameroon.
or any other name, for that matter?
