Re - “ It is a dangerous fiction, designed not to save lives but to soften the moral ground for intervention” -
Like Bobby Dylan, Mahfuz Mundadu is more or less saying
“I can smell something cooking
I can tell there's going to be a feast
You know that sometimes Satan comes as a man of peace”
As if Venezuela is not more than enough on his presidential plate - although as things are today, he could be on the lookout for a weaker prey; but I think that the tall talk about sending in the marines is designed to soften President Tinubu up, so that he ( Trump) can wring some choice concessions out of him, because as far as fighting terrorism is concerned, with that $346 Million arms deal with Trump, President Tinubu is already half way there with that kind of massive military help in the shape of weapons delivery from Uncle Sam
However, Mahfuz Mundanu telling President Tinubu “It is time, therefore, to pursue with urgency a formal defence pact with the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China.” is tantamount to throwing down the gauntlet and will only make the Donald see red; in fact it could well precipitate a covert invasion ( of an already divided Nigeria , a Nigeria divided along all the known faultlines ) to sweep away whoever at the helm of national affairs wants to enter a defence pact withTrump’s arch rivals.
