A timely and instructive book that puts today’s nativist-nationalism, white supremacy, antisemitism, and anti-black racism in recent historical context. One of the many unique strengths of this book is its detailed review of Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf, and analysis of how Africans (as the author defines them) interpreted this “Nazi Bible” and its role in the origins of the Holocaust. It is a sobering account of how colonized and sovereign peoples in West and East Africa assessed the prejudices that consumed Nazi Germany and torched the lives of the so-called “inferior races” and “non-white immigrants” in a nation that counted itself among the civilized. This is an African perspective on what unrestrained bigotry can do to a nation, and the innocent people its politicians and elites target to satisfy their fantasies.

Edward:

Congratulations, indeed, on the publication of such a useful book. I knew

that you were working very hard on it and, now, it is a reality. I plan to use

it in my old but popular seminar, "Blacks and Jews in History". I also know

several other colleagues, who plan to use the new book, which is very well

researched.

My mild suggestion is for your publishers to do a paperback version of the book

because of our students, who are to obtain copies.

Again, congratulations!

A.B.
