General Gowon at 88 years
General Yakubu Gowon is 88 today! He has come a long way ever since queuing in a university cafetoria at Warick, the photograph of which was released by a Nigerian newspaper to the utter consternation of not a few, ostensibly all towards finding out what went wrong when he held sway at state house Dodan barracks marina Lagos complete with 21 out riders and their very big bikes.
today it is Mrs Victoria Gowon calling the shots as a former first lady, if she does not approve of the Generals wears in the house then the General is going nowhere.!
G.O.W.O.N. is still the issue, because the people are still debating one Nigeria. Gowon #nigeria! meaning, Go on with One Nigeria! Happy Birthday!

General Yakubu Gowon is the only Nigerian General that ruled Nigeria for nine years without becoming a millionaire. Happy birthdate.

I pray that Gen. Gowon will live past 100 years; long enough for him to experience/witness the consequences of all the missed opportunities over which he presided and which contributed to bringing Nigeria to where it is today.

The first Head of State to destroy Nigeria university system but the law of Karma caught up with him. He went to Warwick university for his first degree and doctorate. Imagined if that university had been treated the way he treated University of Ibadan, could he have been able to pursue his education there?
He should apologize to Nigerians for his ruthless behavior that has brought our university system to where it is today. Shame on him!!

Seconded. General Gowon set the stage for what and where Nigeria is today. Sometimes I wonder if he ponders on the decisions he made and if his blunders can mainly be attributed to his youth and inexperience.

Would be good to see him and his cohorts step up to correct the results of some of their past missteps . Not holding my breath
