In the 1980s, two creative minds – Wole Soyinka, a Nigerian Nobel Prize laureate for Literature, and Tunji Oyelana, a Nigerian musician and former lecturer at the University of Ibadan – began working on an album of music that would examine the corruption of Nigeria through satire. Together, they composed the song “I Love My Country,” which was a popular and funny piece about Nigeria’s hypocrisy and the struggles of the Nigerian people. This song was banned.

Both sides are fantastic, “I Love My Country” and “Chairman”.
