Biko:

That was a wonderful seminar.  I joined at the latter end.

Your idea of decommissioning the prison system as a money making industry is well taken as well as its replacement with mire funding for education.

I still maintain the concept of the United States of Africa is problematic coming from a presenter who comes from the section of a country where the Fulani herdsmen are being told to go back to their homeland in the North rather than resettling them in their current states with adequate retraining.

Sorry I missed this intellectual event
involving a transformational leader in the field of criminology.

It  is a particularly busy day-  with some sudden student appointments, University meetings, and  responses to an unsavory racist letter sent to Connecticut educators
by one of my colleagues in the History  Department, attacking affirmative action and the 1619 Project  aimed at
leveling the playing field. We also are engaged in preparations for final exams.

Biko, you couldn’t have chosen a busier day but I am consoled by the hope that the seminar has been archived for later viewing.

Well OA’s note had a sting in the tail. I would say, though, that if the Europeans who fought two deadly civil wars,  in what have been called World Wars I & II - can unify somewhat, there is hope for us all.

Thanks for your support sister Glo. There was some drama because as soon as I opened my mouth, the Zoom was hijacked and bombed with porn. We had to close and restart but it was good to know that those opposed to Decolonization would go to all that trouble to disrupt an academic seminar.

The restarted session was recorded and will be made available soon.

Keep up the good work with Africa Update even if some colleagues are eating their own words against emancipation.

I  thought that Zoom was able to  prevent such intrusions.

Well you have an additional reason to have it up on U tube, Vimeo, Instagram and the rest plus a written summary, verbatim preferably for “Africa Update.”

Moses:

Zoom bombing can happen unless you have multiple layers of security prevention. I witnessed it, and it was alarming.

When I did the interview with ASUU president, someone bombed us. We were able to take them down. That on Biko’s today is too sickening to report.

In any case, whoever wants to destroy and damage is always a mile ahead.

Well, I remain unrepentant that effective African unity is what Africa should aim for and not an African Union.  I say the same unequivocally for the European Union, and congratulate the United Kingdom for finding the resolute will to leave that multi ethnic den of incessant bickering bordering on survival of the fittest and underhand machinations of some of the weaker to divide the ranks of the supposed democratic stronger in endless intrigues as happens in Nigeria.

Soon come the transcription and the video recording for Africa Update. Shame that the powerful comments and questions by Falola and others were not recorded as well.

Zoom had that problem early 2020 but the
company claimed that it improved on
security since then.I recall that a student
 was defending his
doctoral thesis and had an attack with
porno stuff.

Zoom has the capacity to improve on its security.

When I launched my  “Africa: The Way Forward “
Webinar Series in August 2020, with Victor Odoh
Abdul Bangura and  Eze Eluchie
I had one case of suspicious
activity and decided that all  meetings will
be posted. I didn’t go live with Ogundiran, for
example.

Needless to say that it took me
hours to edit the Productions and pushed my
Film Editing skills to their limits- as simple as
it looks. This could because of
company restrictions.

A password requirement may be helpful
but what if the  cyberterrorist is  one of us
with the password.
