This article makes no mention of the organization Women in Nigeria and the intellectual output from that organization in the form of several books and academic conferences.I wonder why this glaring omission.

It's probably not intentional. As you know very well in our line of business, when you are writing you are dealing with a lot of information and data, and sometimes things get overlooked. 

The omission in this particular instance did not diminish the importance of the essay.
