Despite US Opposition, UN Passes Resolution Condemning Death Penalty

How dare the UN!

Sleepy Joe B  has to wake up and smell the coffee. Gone are the days of “when Caesar says “do this'' it is performed”.

Like "Captain Cook did a poop behind the kitchen door

the cat came up and licked it up and said, “ I want some more”

Like telling Putin to please lose the military operation in Ukraine.

Like stopping the bombing of  Saigon in Vietnam.

Like telling the Ruskies to get the hell out of Afghanistan.

Like the latest decalogue

Like telling Trump’s angry  Republican patriots storming the capitol to calm down or the Justice Department will pass the capital punishment law on all of them  - for insurrection and treason, worse than losing an alleged stolen election, taking into consideration the fact that there is no greater crime than being accused of stealing an election, since it’s written in God’s holy  Constitution,  “Thou shalt not steal”.

Like taking a poke at Pope Paul

Like the case of Assata Shakur

Like the case of Mumia Abu-Jamal

And If it’s the death penalty that you’re against, universally, I guess we could rope in the case of Eli Cohen.

More Bad news: Executions Around the World

Danny Glover, anti-death penalty advocate numero uno was asked what he would like to do to Osama Bin Laden if Osama was apprehended and brought to face justice at a US Court of Justice

The only good news: Already, the death penalty in Africa has been on the decline.

I can’t help mentioning that Israel was one of the first countries in the world to abolish the death penalty , of course, after duly hanging Adolf Eichmann on May 31, 1962, for his crimes against humanity.

If the death penalty was still in place in Israel, then Israel - which is not a theocracy - would have probably joined the ranks of some of their neighbours in that volatile neighbourhood, especially if the death penalty was to be meted out for what the Israeli Ministry of Justice refers to as wanton acts of terrorism  - to the point where the world would have most probably protested  - mass demonstrations in Tehran,  Istanbul, Cairo, Khartoum,  Stockholm, London, New York and Paris - as would be variously reported herein,  bearing in mind that one man’s freedom fighter is another man’s terrorist -  because -  of course, the world, especially the antiSemitic and the so-called anti-Zionist world is always keen to hold Israel to a much higher standard than anybody else, even though the world got the expression “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth” from the Hebrew Bible. With regard to the Palestinian issue, these days, Islamic militancy would be based on Quranic verses which have not been abrogated or fallen into desuetude, such as Surah Al-Baqarah , Ayat 191 and Surah Al-Baqarah  Ayat  44

What of if 'one of the first country in the world that abolished death penalty' is also one of the first country where targeted assassinations of escallated?

Baba Kadiri,

On this Holy Sabbath  - Torah Portion  Miketz,  on this 6th day of Chanukah, the day before Christmas Eve, the eve before Jesus' Great 2022 birthday celebration, the holy terms are many:  On the dollar, it’s printed “ In God We Trust”: Dollar Akbar! The pious rabbis expatiate on  Bitachon, the holy warrior jihadists talk about the Almighty as “The Great Reliance” and in Arabic, the term is Tawakkul

Being a philosophical sophist is all too easy; we’ve got to be practical when we get to grips with some of the down-to-earth realities. Wasn’t it your man Cromwell who said, “ Trust in the Lord, but don’t forget to keep your gunpowder dry”?

A few days ago I noticed a chill crawling down my spine when I watched this short video  excerpt from MEMRI about “How Iran Would Respond to an Israeli Attack on Its Nuclear Facilities

It’s obvious that the next Nobel Prize for Peace is not going to come from the Middle East.

Any good Shia Muslim will tell you, with lots of Quranic quotes to bolster his claim that “Those who believe are not afraid!” An unbeliever may then ask if this is true,  why was the Prophet of Islam, salallahu alaihi wa salaam  hiding in that cave with Abu Bakr, when the Meccans were looking for him? The pious Shia Muslim will then try to explain to you that Rasulullah wasn’t afraid  - and of course, he wasn’t  - he should like to add in good Shia tradition that it was Abu Bakr that was afraid, that when Prophet Muhammad - salallahu alaihi wa salaam said to Abu Bakr “Grieve not ”, he meant “don’t be afraid”

The only point I should want to make here is that there are probably many levels of this thing called  “fear”. By any normal standards, there’s no reason to designate Hassan Nasrallah the current Secretary-General of  Hezbollah as a “coward” and yet most of the time he is in hiding  - not only because of a guilty conscience as in Proverbs  28: 1  “The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.

And that’s a moot point you raise about “ targeted assassinations” and consequences. Imagine if it was  - God forbid - an African that was found guilty of assassinating Olof Palme! Imagine what the consequences would have been if it had been a Palestinian that had assassinated Yitzhak Rabin

Talking about the present and the future, since “ knowledge is king “ we’ve got to be very careful: The Israeli media is a veritable jungle of opinions, and ideologies, some bordering on calumny, for equilibrium,  from the openly pro-Israeli “There is no diplomatic solution” to the pro-Palestinian Jihadists who proclaim  from the “ From  the River Jordan to the Sea “

In my opinion, for the most accurate coverage of what’s happening in Israel, I’d recommend ARUTZ SHEVA - For  more of a rightwing Likud viewpoint, there’s always The Jerusalem Post

We’re still  alive - thank God, and still surviving in the era of suicide bombers

Check this out :

Emerging deals between Likud and partners also provide for death penalty for terrorists, advancing annexation, potential anti-LGBT discrimination, gender-segregated public events

Question 1: Is any “ death penalty “ going to deter any suicide bombers?

With regard to any proposed annexation by Messrs Netanyahu & His Generals there’s this kind of world opinion that they will have to contend with, even if they think that might is right:

United Nations: Commission of Inquiry finds that the Israeli occupation is unlawful under international law

How does Alan Dershowitz intend to wriggle out of the occupation? Deception?

BTW,  when I read Augustine Togonu-Bickersteth’s piece,”  Africa is now in our Hands'' - the last time I came across that kind of expression was with the culmination of the Six-Day War and the triumphant cries of “JERUSALEM IS NOW IN OUR HANDS!

BTW,  brain-drained Diaspora Africans may be telling people back home that “ Africa is now in our hands” but how can that be when the Francophone Africans of the so-called former French colonies still have their central bank in Paris and are still paying the equivalent of colonial taxes?  Secondly, how is Africa now in our hands when for example 98% of Ghana’s gold is in the hands of exploitative foreign companies, and if we’re not careful, may remain in their hands for at least another 100 years?

A breathtaking update
