Hi Cheat Trainers!

Great job on Saturday on the Lower Yough. I saw people really pushing themselves to try new moves and heard good things about the group I wasn't with.

Here is the link to sign up for both a weeknight and weekend practice https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jnJGLhWvMHZGiUvp3XxrI5IRiMCVcyTD0Hw20IENSPc/edit?usp=sharing

We are considering having the whole group stay in town this weekend and then head out of town for both Saturday and Sunday the following weekend. You would theoretically sign up for either Saturday the 27 or Sunday the 28th. That way we can look at rivers a bit further afield. Please let me know your thoughts on heading back to the Lower Yough or maybe the New or something else a bit further.

Hope to see you guys soon! Ashley

I was hoping for an away trip again this weekend as I can’t travel next weekend.

Stay well,
Mark

This translates to between 2.8 and 3.5 on the bridge gauge for a Saturday run!! Please use the sign up sheet by THIS EVENING to indicate whether you want to go to the Cheat or prefer an in-town practice. I need to get staff lined up as soon as possible.

Im so excited. Hope you can make it!
Ashley

Hi,

Is there someone who would be willing to give me a ride from the take-out to the put-in, afterward? I cannot make it down the access road in my car. I have a mask that I keep in my life jacket and would wear for that segment.

Best regards,
Joe Pepper

Best bet is to park at the gas station at the top of the takeout road. That way your ride wouldn’t have to drive all the way to town and back.

I’ll be glad to transport you from gas station to the put-in in the morning and the takeout to the gas station in the afternoon.

Stay well,
Mark

Mark,

I am renting a F150 so I can do the cheat road.  Can we work together to run a shuttle?  Between the two pickup trucks we should be able make this happen.

I will plan on being in the Cheat put in parking lot at 10 AM on Saturday.  We can run a quick shuttle.  I am not so sure about the road directions.

Chris.

Just a quick reminder to please put your name on the list to indicate whether you want to come to the Cheat or want to have an in-town practice. I need to plan for the right number of staff.

Last chance! (just email me directly if you aren’t sure)

Thanks, Ashley

People today got no skills! I used to run that shuttle in my Honda Accord…and that was before they fixed that road. Best I can tell these days, it’s no rougher now than a parade ground ramp at West Point. ;-)

David and I would like to join in on shuttling.  One of us could stay with boats at the put-in.

Also - anyone interested in camping out for the weekend and running Lower Yough on Sunday?

I suggest that people shuttle up and avoid damaging low-clearance cars, and donate the money you saved to Friends of the Cheat, to protect the watershed and preserve the water quality that you will be enjoying. What would a tow truck down the Cheat road and a new oil pan cost? Puh-lenty! And, with your donation to FoC you can even get a snazzy t-shirt with a map of the river, to study and learn before your next trip down. So cool! Be cool, help save the watershed!

Jen,

FOC is a great organization, but I wouldn’t hold your breath on receiving a T-shirt by mail.    I gave them a rather large donation on April 3 after CheatFest was canceled and they were supposed to send me a T-shirt.  After I didn’t receive my T-shirt I followed up with several emails and a voice message for the director of CheatFest – none of my emails were answered and my call was not returned.  Today I called the Executive Director of FOC ( hated to bother her but thought she would want to know) and she has not yet called me back.  Maybe they haven’t sent out CheatFest T-shirts yet but it seems rather late…

It’s a great organization and they’ll make good use of any donation but based on my experience I wouldn’t hold your breath on getting a T-shirt.  But do hold your breath if you swim Pete Morgan…
