Hey kayaking friends,

Forgive me for hijacking this mailing list - a couple of us are doing a fundraiser for our awesome friend (and Calleva slalom extraordinaire) Sofi Reinoso, to help her cover costs as she goes off to Tokyo for the Olympics.

We're selling some t-shirts for $35, but you can donate more or less if you'd like.

Quick query - will the shirts be designed and printed by local artist and beloved kayaker, Ashley McEwan? If so, they will be collectors items - limited edition - worth more with every washing! So exited!! 💕💕

Hello Calleva Paddling Family, 

My turn to hijack this mailing list, to let you know about the Savage Race this Sunday (July 4). 

This year again, the Savage Race will be part of the Mid-Atlantic Downriver Cup (MAC), which includes races down the Lehigh, the Delaware, and the Tohickon. The MAC Champion will be designated for each category, by cumulating the scores obtained in all races. 
 
Some basic information about the Savage race:
  • Entry fee is $10 (Online registration link HERE)
  • You can enter one of four categories: wildwater (M/F) or non-wildwater kayaks (M/F) (bring your long boats!).
  • There will be both a sprint race (starts at 11 am) and a classic race (starts at 2 pm). Feel free to enter either or both.
  • No shuttle will be provided

Hi all,



My son Liam is bringing a small groups of kids from Colorado to DC for a slalom training camp at the end of December. To avoid having to fly with boats, he’s looking to borrow about a half-dozen boats for 3-5 days. They’ll be at the Feeder and in the Potomac gorge mostly.



If you have a slalom boat you could loan, please let me know. These are intermediate paddlers, so hopefully won’t be trashing any boats!
