Getting a criminal clearance/police clearance certificate (Italian):

This can be done from the court of Genova (Palazzo di Giustizia), which is situated at Piazza Portoria 1.

When you enter the building, there is a public relation office on the right, get the application form from there.

You should get "Marca da bollo" for €19.87 (fee), and in order to get this done on the same day, you can get another "Marca da bollo" for €3.87 (Fast track fee). These details are mentioned in the application form.
So, two separate "Marca da bollo"  to be submitted along with the application.

The general criminal clearance certificate is called  "Certificato Generale del Casellario Giudiziale", select this on the application.

Also, remember to tell them this is for a foreign purpose (Estero) so that you get Apostille certification done for free from the same place (different office, same building).

Legalization / Apostille of your degree certificate:

1. Get a normal color photostat (A4) of your degree.
2. Get the copy attested from the nearest Commune (there is one in Corso Torino 11), also bring original along with you. You may have to pay a fee of around €19
3. Get your attested copy Apostilled from the Prefettura di Genova (in Largo Eros Lanfranco 1).  It is free of charge. It can take 3-4 days.

There is an official translator at Via XX Settembre 5/5 (Centro Linguistico IL MONDO), she charges around €25 per page.

Hope you find it useful!

Thanks Vinil!
By the way, the police clearance certificate would be in Italian?

Yes, it is in Italian. Better get it translated from an official translator.

Thanks Vinil for the info. So the apostille is done on a copy of the degree and not on the original ?

Yes, that's correct. Here they won't do it on the original. Apostille will be done on the attested copy from the Commune.

I was thinking the same thing.
So, as far as the clearance certificate is concerned, (for foreign applications) we need to translate it first and then apostille it, right?
Thanks,

No. As per my understanding, translation is the last step (it includes translation of Apostille statement as well).

A colleague of mine has suggested to me the following online translation agency https://www.traduzione.it , and should be able to release official translations.
