Salty Pup repower

I'm new to this group. I bought a 23' Salty Pup about a year ago. It came with a partially installed Mercruiser 5.7. The original 318 is long gone, several owners ago. I'm just starting to really get to work on installing this motor and am having issues with it fitting under the engine hatch. The 318 was lower. I'm wondering if anyone has done a repower on one of these and has ideas on how to make everything fit?
