This afternoon I received the new uKENBAK-1 kit, I put it together in almost 3 hours.
The kit arrived very well packed, the mechanical design is fabulous, I love every part of it, even the "Dumbo's ears" ... :-)

Now at 2:00 AM I made a video with "some" of my KENBAKs ... :-P

After getting up late and checking emails ...
I opened my uKENBAK again to show the modifications that I included (which is why it took me longer than estimated to assemble the kit last night)

1.- I glued the acrylic spacer to the front panel and used nylon washers in contact with the PCB. That way the front panel stays flatter and more uniform.
2.- Coincidentally I did the same as Mike Corrigan, I used a female-header approach to connect the USB-UART module.
3.- Instead of the Bright White Diffused 5mm LEDs, I opted for the Warm White Diffused (I bought many to use in the PiDP / 8 and PiDP-11 kits that I haven't put together yet). They give it a more vintage look since they look like the original incandescent lamps.

I loved this kit (I think I already said that), Chris Davis did a nice update although the price was raised a bit. I think I'm going to buy another one and later they will even be used to make gifts to some young STEM enthusiasts ...
