Hi,

I have now worked through the whole document and the assessment spreadsheet.
I think we are reasonably complete - though there is formatting etc. still to be done.

Though we have some further TLOs in the parking lot, the list as it stands looks reasonably comprehensive, incorporating all the main candidates and a sufficient range to provide a basis for assessment and analysis. It is a little surprising that there has not been such a list drawn up before.

The framework also seems reasonably comprehensive - though I'm sure it can be improved. I think it provides a solid basis for choosing a TLO. Again, it is a little surprising that such a framework has not been developed before.

The framework assessment is also reasonably complete. And I think useful patterns are beginning to emerge.

Appendix D is largely there - though I'm expecting it to be expanded as we discuss this more.
I also need to incorporate Matthew and Andy's comments on the previous version.

I think Andy's suggestion of transposing and colour-coding the spreadsheet is a good idea. And if people agree, we can do that.

Regards,
Chris Partridge

Hi Chris,

I really enjoyed going through this document!  It is shaping up really well and you have clearly given this a lot of thought.  I have made some (in places long) comments.  I am not necessarily suggesting many changes. It was more to indicate to you how I thought/think about these matters.  I have some decades less than you grappling with these topics so they may be clearer to you than to me.  I hope that its useful anyway and it may surface areas that may need attention.

You'll see from the comments where I spent my time.  It is a lot to go through so I am hoping that others will catch other things that I have missed.  It would be good to resolve the "I think" and "????" cells in the assessment spreadsheet too (Matthew, et al./Al may be able to help).

Thanks again for doing this!

Al

Hi Al,

I'm really glad you enjoyed this.
"It was more to indicate to you how I thought/think about these matters." This will be really helpful.
I'm planning to go through the various outstanding reviews tomorrow morning.

Dear Alex and other colleagues,

I hope that this draft can be the basis for an initial release. There is
a mass of overlapping standards and specifications, and the draft still
has loose ends, but it would be good to get a version 1 out the door.

Best regards,
David

Hi Matthew,

Here is a response to an earlier review by you.
As usual, there are now a number of branches in play. I hope to merge them soon.
I'm assuming that we continue on this branch for all substantive comments - I'll move things to the master as required.

Chris Partridge

Hi Al,

Apologies for taking so long to review. This got lost in the pile of emails.
Thanks for the comments.
I have been through everything, but I suspect I missed things in the long comment on identity - so be good if you pick up the things I have missed.

I have given the thread's subject the suffix "Al" to mark it as the branch dealing with your comments.
As I have noted in the other emails, there are a number of branches and I'm going to try to deal with the comments inside each branch and then merge into a new master.

Regards,
Chris Partridge

I’ve only just got to this. I’ll wait for the next version before making any further comments. Do you know when that will be?

Hi Matthew,

I am hoping to have something out tomorrow.
I am trying to include all the comments I have - which includes several reviews from people not on the list.

Hi Chris

Here is my belated review.

I found it quite refreshing, and I think with this we are moving towards a new language/lens to frame the different choices that at least I was struggling to articulate when trying to compare the TLOs.

There are some minor cosmetic comments, and some that might be a bit more substantive.  Either case, I hope they are useful.

Regards

Hi Mes,

Thanks for this.
I'm sure they will be useful.
I am trying to get a new version out.
I propose, to minimise effort (mine :) ) that I review this - and reply in this branch to the substantive comments. But for more cosmetic changes, I update the master directly.
Then you can either reply in this branch or the new master - as you see fit.
Hope that will work for you.

Regards,
Chris Partridge

Hi Mes,

Thanks for this - good substantive points.
I have worked through the comments - updated this and the master, which I hope to issue tomorrow. So maybe best to work on that.
I have suffixed your name to the subject line, so we can keep track of this branch - hope that is okay.

Chris Partridge
