Looked this up after a late caller to today's Dan Patrick Show (on radio/Peacock) mentioned it: Best known for the title role in Li'l Abner, on Broadway and film, which he got after singing the national anthem in uniform as a Univ. of Illinois football player, winning a singing contest in the Army, and getting on the Ed Sullivan show... 90.
