Deadline, although it's been picked up by other outlets: https://deadline.com/2021/12/jeff-garlin-exit-the-goldbergs-hr-investigations-season-9-1234892030/

The story goes that he'd make some off-color jokes on set and that got some people upset enough to go to HR.  He addresses this in his Netflix special, "Our Man in Chicago" (I'm cribbing from a Decider article):

Case in point. Garlin almost got fired from The Goldberg last season due to his crude on-set humor between takes. He weirdly sets up this story (18 minutes into the hour) with a joke that minimizes and reinforces the difficulties for women in show business. Here’s how Garlin tells it:

“A lot of days on The Goldbergs, I sit in a Barcalounger in tighty whities for the whole day, and I think to myself, ‘Who did I blow to get this job?'” He laughs maniacally. “It’s true! I can’t believe it. Then I’ll go, ‘Can someone get me an iced tea?'”

When Garlin gets out of that Barcalounger, he says he always says the same dumb joke: “‘Ah, my vagina. Ah, achy vagina. Ah, my vagina’s killing me.’ This particular day, I don’t know who it was, but one of the crew members was offended. And they contacted Sony HR. And I get called in, and they go, ‘Look, you can’t do this,’ and I go, ‘Oh yes, I can.’ They go, ‘You might get fired.’ I go, ‘I’d love to be fired and have it hit the papers. Cover of TMZ: ‘Jeff Garlin Fired Because His Vagina Hurts.'” He continues: “Hold on. I gave empathy to the HR department. I go, ‘Look, I get it. If I was working at an insurance company, and there’s a bunch of desks, and every time I stood up I went, ‘Ah, my vagina!’ That’s wildly inappropriate. But I’m on a comedy. I’m a comedian. Let’s get over. I don’t have a vagina. I think everyone knows that.”

To put a cap on his story, Garlin adds that women should co-opt his joke as an excuse to get out of stuff because no man would ever dare question them.

Sure was... Yahoo, Forbes, CNBC, FNC, NY Post...

Iiiii... don't think he's ever proved being from another planet, else we'd have heard about it back in the "Curb" years.     B

His defense works better for being in the Writers Room of a sitcom, not an actor on set, though not clear if even then it fly in current environment.

In any case, by the time HR formally tells you to stop doing something, it’s time to stop doing that thing, regardless of whether you think it is a problem, if you don’t want to get fired.
