Digital Spy reported yesterday that Corrie would be cutting kissing scenes in future episodes to protect its actors, but also noted that the "washing-your-hands-to-'Happy-Birthday'" scene in its elder-spouse abuse storyline was filmed months ago.

Also, an unidentified Corrie actor self-quarantined after coming back from vacationing abroad.

Starting from 30 March, weekly airings for Corrie (3) and Emmerdale (5) have been reduced from their regular six.  Also expect the shows’ septuagerians – and Ken Barlow, who’s finally moved off the Street – to fade off the canvas for a while.

The 30th also starts Hollyoaks’ reduction to three days a week. However, last NYE’s hour-long episode foreshadowed events occurring on 12/31/20, so no doubt the writers will be ever-so-slightly fast-forwarding their suburban drug-trafficking plot.

This is a good summary of what the BBC is planning over the coming weeks:

Now word that “Hollyoaks” will go to Monday-Tuesday only airings on April 5.

Meanwhile, on Channel 5, the Australian soaps will go Monday/Friday only; in the homeland, Seven has scuppered production of “Home & Away” for the time being while 10Peach is continuing production of “Neighbours” under strict protocols.

The channel formerly known as Eleven will continue with a weekdaily dose of Ramsay Street, leaving Channel 5 in the dust….

Stateside: starting this week, “General Hospital” will be taking Fridays off.

As of 4/29, Channel 5 will add a third day (Wednesday) to its Oz soaps' airings. (They remain on their regular schedules in the homeland.)

Meanwhile, Nine is going against "H&A" with an HOUR of their tabloid mag "A Current Affair" (inspiration for the American series of the same name), which is about like taping and airing the Trumpathons and editing out Dr. Fauci.  (Nine's also doing a weekly news department prime time hour tomorrow night on COVID-19 similar to NBC and ABC's prime time weeklies).  Meanwhile, Seven Network's doing a prime time half-hour of news every night, in a country where the TV is notorious for not having late newscasts on the terrestrial stations (the pubcasters ABC and SBS do have late newscasts, however).

Previously on "Neighbours"...
Channel 5 returned to its five-day-a-week airings in the UK, which left home broadcaster 10 Peach no choice but to reduce to 4-a-week airings to close the 20-episode gap by Christmas break (10 Dec).

But, wait!...
According to a Channel 5 spokesperson, in the new year, both broadcasters will maintain those airing frequencies, causing the UK to pull ahead. No comment from Peach HQ.
