He's glad he stood up for her, but... he's not sure he'd work with her again... V sat down with him at the Monte-Carlo TV Festival, where he talked up "Righteous Gemstones," the Coens, and comparing British and American series...

Separately, Goodman was leading the crowd at the London Stadium during the seventh-inning stretch at the Cardinals-Cubs game yesterday.

Tweet from game 1 -

Although Bill Murray was causing more chaos with the BT Sport hosts -

(Very off-topic side note: the London Games got coverage on two UK channels. The BBC showed MLB Network coverage incorporating their own presenters including the cricket-loving Maccabees musician Felix White and Melanie Goodman from Apple. BT Sport had their own UK commentary team and a different graphics package that I assume came from whichever US Network showed those games. During the regular season, BT Sport, which is soon to be rebranded TNT Sport, shows most coverage aside from the Apple games. The BBC just shows the World Series.)

I believe Fox had Saturday's game and ESPN Sunday's.

Don't know if he has seen this.  She did an interview recently (it's all over Twitter, I will not link to it) saying:
Her words: “Nobody died in the Holocaust. It should happen. Six millions Jews should die right now, because they cause all the problems in the world.”

Marti, I am no fan of RB, but that kind of quote is so ugly and ignorant that I think it needs some reliable citation, otherwise I don’t think I can regard it as true.

She said it during an interview with Theo Von. There is audio of it.

In context, she was discussing her misguided and evidence-free belief that the most recent  presidential election was fake. She claimed there was a government issued mandate preventing anyone from stating otherwise, then awkwardly segued to the quote Marti referenced.

One of two things happened: either she meant it, or she forgot to add a transitional phrase between the two disjointed thoughts (i.e.- the election was not rigged, and if you believe that, nobody died in the Holocaust).

In context doesn’t actually clarify anything except she is unwell and probably should stay away from microphones until she’s sought mental health care. That’s not a mandate, just a strong suggestion.

So, I apologize if I gave the impression I was accusing Marti of writing something that was not true. All I meant was that, when it comes to a charge as extreme as that, I think it is good practice to provide a citation, and to not accept a report like that as true until seeing it in a reliable source (as opposed to “it’s all over Twitter”). I was on a short break from work or I would have looked for one myself.

Here is a story from USA Today:

As Kevin notes, it does appear that this was RB being sarcastic, rather than seriously denying that any Jews were killed in the Holocaust. I have relatives who died in the Holocaust, so I don’t minimize the offense in such sarcasm (if that’s what it was), but neither do I equate bad taste sarcasm with literalism.

I’m think RB is the kind of person who, now that she does not command a major cultural platform, is best ignored when she says or does something outrageous. Rallying the troops to publicly condemn her only confirms her persecution complex, and gives her a social impact she no longer deserves.

I didn't include the link because I found the  words I heard when I listened to it, so hideous, I didn't want to subject anyone else to hearing it.    I do appreciate your reply.

She now claims that her remarks were sarcasm, but frankly, I don't think she is a good enough actress to say those horrible things with a straight face, without her actually holding those views.

Here is an article that discusses her recent outburst, plus references her past remarks, and includes a link to the podcast where she claimed the Holocaust didn't happen.  You are free to listen to it and see if you think her words were spoken in jest.  I should have included a link in my original post, to verify the statement, and to allow you fine folks to make up your own minds about whether to listen to it or not.

I enjoy this group tremendously, and appreciate that we can discuss issues politely.  Love and light to all of you.
