The flamboyant evangelist started preaching in tents, started a radio program and later added a singing career in southern gospel music, bought several religious format radio stations and began a weekly television program---in 1986, he claimed that fellow evangelist Marvin Gorman was having affairs, Gorman took him to court and settled for $1.8M--later, Gorman hired a detective to track Mr. Swaggart and caught him with a hooker outside a hotel room--five years later, a cop caught him with another hooker in his Jaguar, he was only charged with driving on the wrong side of the road and owning an unregistered vehcle--among his survivors is his son Donnie, who now runs the family business--cardiac arrest at his Baton Rouge, LA home yesterday:
Enjoy hell, Jimmy--praise God!
