Players and coaches from the Baltimore Ravens have been testing positive for COVID all this week so the NFL is postponing tomorrow's game until Sunday. The Steelers beat writers I follow on Twitter have been retweeting angry players. The team had its bye week shifted due to an outbreak they weren't responsible for and they were looking to the extended gap between tomorrow and next Sunday. Now that's gone due to an outbreak they aren't responsible for. Of course they can't complain about having their season ruined because they are 10-0.

A cross-flex to Fox is a real possibility... they have only five Sunday games to CBS' six...

The priority should be on the health and safety of the players especially over keeping the schedule. Putting together a surprise Sunday broadcast on a holiday weekend will be a major pain in the ass for whichever network gets the game. The NBC trucks will already be on their way to Green Bay for Sunday night's game so CBS or FOX is going to have to put together a technical crew and get them to Pittsburgh. Then they'll have to find a broadcast crew for a major matchup.

Their intent all along was to have different crews do Thurs. and Sun.  Tirico, Dungy, and Tappen were on Bearss/Pack while Al, Cris and Michele had Ravens/Steelers.

Got to give kudos to Chris Myers, who pinch hit for Curt due to COVID. He did a good job.

Does anyone know if this game will be included in the RedZone coverage like any other Sunday day game?

My default assumption is that it will be. However not all Sunday games are included, for instance the London games. Probably the limit is temporal (they cover games between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm PT, the patented “SEVEN HOURS”) and he often explains that they are contractually obligated to get off the air by 5:00 pm, even when the afternoon (PT) games are not over. But I guess it’s possible the contract also limits them to games carried by CBS and Fox, and prohibits covering games on NBC.

Scott Hanson said yes on Twitter on Wednesday: https://twitter.com/ScottHanson/status/1331755756014751747

Presumably that means his evil twin Andrew Siciliano will also be able to show it on the DirecTV equivalent.

Moving along: Steelers-Ravens now Tuesday night (12/1, NBC) with Baltimore’s Thursday (12/3) game against Dallas moved to next Monday (12/7, Fox-NFLN) as the opener of the MNF doubleheader.

So, what happens if Buck or Nantz were to get COVID? At CBS my guess, given that he's Nantz's backup on golf, they'd would use  Andrew Catalon to work with Romo. At FOX? Either    Chris Myers  or   Kevin Burkhardt  would work with   Aikman .

The Wednesday game will be on NBC at 3:40 PM ET. NBC already has an obligation to show the Rockefeller Center extravaganza in prime time.

Like many on my Twitter feed, it is hard to understand why they have rescheduled this game so often, while they made the Broncos play a sham of a game on Sunday. The Denver problem was limited to the QB’s, so there wasn’t as much of a health risk to other players once they were removed, but it made the game a joke.

The NFL has actually been pretty lucky so far, but the last month of the season could be a real mess. Given the amount of money (the only thing the league really cares about) at stake for the playoffs, I will be shocked if they don’t go to some kind of modified bubble for the post season.

And there is this:

Nice of the NFL to schedule this for European primetime. Obviously it'll be up against the Champions' League...

Over the weekend, when the game was moved to tonight, NBC tells "The Voice" that their live results show scheduled for tonight will have to be moved to Thursday night and that the recorded "Voice" all-performance Christmas special scheduled for Thursday night would be moved to be the following week.

Monday afternoon, supposedly after the game got rescheduled again, "The Voice" is told shortly before they go on the air with the first live performance night of the current series that guess what--everything's back to originally scheduled.  At least Carson the Tool didn't screw it up (because the correct date was on his prompter--uh, to you, Adam, autocue).

Meanwhile, considering that I presume most stations that carry "The Kelly Clarkson Show" are NBC affiliates and that they air it in the mid-afternoon (with Ellen probably following), Clarkson is probably whining to anyone within earshot in Universal City that "sportsball" is knocking her show off the air tomorrow.

Somehow through all its scheduling permutations, this game, now airing at 12:30 in the afternoon in the Bay Area, is still tagged as Sunday Night Football, as my DVR has followed it to and fro and is still set to record it tomorrow.

“Kelly” is safe here in Charleston (3pm on WCHS-ABC).

WSAZ will be bumping “Dr Phil” instead, running an hour-early, 30-minute-long version of their 4:00 newscast leading into the game, while the remainder of the news block (5-6:30) will be shifted to their CW sister.

I'm assuming it's beyond the wit of man to switch on a Christmas tree's lights in the hour before an NFL game, or do it during halftime? I guess I don't understand the pageantry that's involved in such a complex task :-)

I'm sure it's the advertisers who care, not the public.

Switching on Blackpool lights might get some local TV coverage if they're lucky. Similarly, the most "famous" Christmas tree in the UK is perhaps the one in Trafalgar Square. Again, that might get some time on the local news coverage. But I realise that different countries have very different things that are culturally important.

I mean we have something called The Trooping of the Colour which involves the Queen and horse drawn carriages, so we're in no position to get high and mighty about these things!

But ITV or Sky doesn't do coverage of the Trooping of the Colour sponsored by several corporate advertisers with product placement and network stars performing as part of it, correct?  If they could, I can just see ITV presenting coverage hosted by Ant and Dec, with the panel and contestants from "The Voice" singing during the ceremonies and Bradley Walsh doing lame comedy bits with the Chasers.

(Of course, even though the rules regarding product placement have loosened in the UK in recent years, no one can still do what American television gets away with--I can now see Tina Fey turning to the camera after forced dialogue singing the praises of Verizon Wireless on "30 Rock" and saying, "Can we have our money now?").

Amd look y'all--they carry Kelly at 2 p.m., followed by a local talk show that's probably mostly paid infomercial segments, news and "Jeopardy!"  They've got three subchannels and the game could've gone on 6.2 instead of Ion, 6.3 instead of Cozi or 6.4 instead of Heroes and Icons, but I guess reruns of "Criminal Minds," "Highway to Heaven," "Monk" and "MacGyver" were more important.

Today, I learned there is an area called the Quad Cities in the USA.

I wonder if there is a list of alternative names for places.   We could have an online quiz.

Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa, and Rock Island and Moline, Illinois. It wasn't the Bears or Vikings, so that's likely why they didn't.

As to lists, Wikipedia has a few. The most for one place is, of course, NYC.  B

I went to a minor-league baseball game there in 2004 (specifically, the stadium is in Davenport, Iowa) when the team was called The Swing of the Quad Cities.

That kind of name quickly fell out of favor, and the team is currently known as the Quad Cities River Bandits.

Although the game was available to our viewers on other streaming platforms, we did not anticipate the difficulty many had accessing those streams.

One of the lines we use all the time in user experience is "remember: 90% of the time, users are visiting a different website". It's to ground yourself that just because *you* know how to do something because you've done it a million times doesn't mean everyone else does.

I love that the towns of Battleford and North Battleford SK are listed on federal highway signs as “The Battlefords.” (If that isn’t a CBC sitcom title waiting to happen….)

oh I just remembered that there used to be an area in northeastern Ontario called the Tri-Towns (New Liskeard, Cobalt, and Haileybury).   That name has gone away when some amalgamation created the Town of Temiskaming Shores.
