Not the iconic Don McLean tune's recording nor release, but its début on the music charts...

And so future generations can appreciate it (and spare him having to 'splain it for what remains of his days above ground), Don a few days ago released a lyric video.

I was 11 years old when I first heard it (too much of a story in itself).  Took me till WWW access to fully appreciate it.
