Thursday (and supposedly yesterday, according to the YouTube description), ABC ran an ad during the last commercial break on "The View" for anti-abortion nutcase and presidential candidate Randall Terry (on the ballot in 12 states), with a disclaimer before and after the ad stating that federal law was requiring them to air the ad:

The ad includes among many pictures of celebrities (which Terry compares to Adolf Hitler's assistants), including the "View" panel and CNN anchors--CNN called the ad "outrageous, antisemitic, and dangerous."  Here's the ad--WARNING:  explicit footage of fetuses and abortions and general rightwing wackonesss:

Reminded me of Barry Commoner, fringe-party candidate in 1980... running against the BS the big parties were reportedly shoveling...

Bob, in what possible way do you find Barry Commoner similar in any way to Randall Terry? Commoner was a well respected scientist and leader of the ecological movement. I found him to be politically  naive, but he truly was a great man. Terry is, as Mark put it, a “Wack Job.” He is a serial liar, an apologist for the murder of a physician by anti-abortion extremists, and an extremely bad man.

I guess you mean they both ran ads as fringe party presidential candidates, but there have been lots of those over the years, some more or less noble, others more or less evil.

I didn't find any similarity, that's just who(m) this reminded me of. Commoner's was only a radio ad, and I don't recall how often the network he bought time on (CBS) had to play it, but both were played for shock value.     B
