I'm going to make this a nomination situation instead of just giving my pick.

I made my choice using the web interface to this group, which legally is at

I chose my pick from among topics I had favorited (clicking the star to the right of each topic name), taking care to weed out those in which I had personally participated.

My choice for this year's top thread is... the announcement by Netflix of a real-life version of Squid Game (to my knowledge they have not yet started production), started by Mark Jeffries and responded-to by Kevin M and M-D November.
