The people who own and operated the NFL are among the worst human beings in the world, but they know how to market their sport. The people who own and operate MLB teams most of the time seem to not know what they are doing.

The NFL owners figured out how to do real revenue sharing so that a team from Green Bay can have a chance each year.

That is part of what of it, though as the article points out, some small market MLB teams have done better than the biggest market teams in recent years.

Another thing the NFL does right is market their players (NBA does this as well), while the MLB constantly dirties their players up in the media.
