The pickup to an even 22 eps for the sitcom's ninth season was made despite the fact that the producers have not decided what to do with Garlin's Murray character after Garlin was fired for alleged Larry David behavior--it matches back four pickups for "Home Economics" and the "Wonder Years" reboot:
There's also no indication if the show will go to a 10th season--it's doing OK in syndication (by co-owner Sony, not Disney), but the stations only take one-camera sitcoms if there aren't enough multi-cams and "The Neighborhood" and "The Connors" may be in 100-episode land soon enough.
