Glaser Your Golden Globes Roast--Uh, Host

After last year's debacle with Jo Koy, Ricky Kushner and Glenn Weiss (just off their success putting together the Democratic National Convention), who are producing the Golden Globes for Dick Clark Productions, have hired roaster Nikki Glaser, the star of the Netflix Tom Brady roast, to front the awards show for 2025, to be on CBS Jan. 5, indicating that they want the barbs to fly onto celebs maybe too drunk to notice:

For her part, Glaser is hoping that her favorite show, Bravo's "Below Deck:  Sailing Yacht," will be nominated (uh, no).  Our other reminder is that the owner of the Globes and DCP, Penske Media, also owns Variety, the Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, Rolling Stone, Billboard, etc.

If I recall from January, Jo Koy’s performance was a debacle to right wing racists on social media who piled on him for being not white.

From reading the article I’d say Glaser was commenting tongue in cheek for the press release. If you want to take her literally, have at it.

In the case of Koy, it wasn't just the racists who complained.

And yeah, I know she was probably kidding.

And if things don't go well, particularly in the ratings, this could be the last time CBS will carry the Globes.

It’s still cheap programming for CBS and Penske Media benefits from the exposure enough that CBS can extort them for more money.

Your 2025 nominations, ladies and germs... plenty of familiar faces, e.g. 19-time nominee/6-time winner Nicole Kidman... no late-night shows honoured, tho Seth Meyers is up for best standup/comedy performance for his HBO/max effort "...Dad Man Walking"...

Jo Koy's big crime was being out of his element.  Being a stand-up doesn't automatically make you suited to being an award show host, any more than being a blacksmith makes you capable of repairing a HEMI V8.
