LivePD host Dan Abrams was interviewed today by Brianna Keilar on CNN. I’d not seen the show, and only remember Abrams as a reporter during the OJ Simpson trial. I think he had a show on MSNBC for a while, but so has almost everybody.

Keilar attempted to employ what I guess are now termed gotcha questions, but most of them didn’t land. All they did was create fake adversarial tension. Frankly it got annoying.

Were I to examine this interview through the prism of race, it’s very telling that the white CNN host is interviewing the white host of LivePD about the systemic racism the media helps to create/sustain. It’s equally telling Keilar went from this interview to an interview with Sean Penn (whom she fawned over) for another old white man’s take on racial injustice.

The former chief shared this earlier today... the arrangement between police and the producers of the show. Oh my.

One of the “stars” of Live PD, a white Texas sheriff, charged with evidence tampering... surprise, surprise, there’s a racial aspect to the charges.

Am I wrong in thinking that Dan Abrams may have actually been in charge of MSNBC at one point...?

Anyone wanting to hear more on LivePD and its predecessor Cops, the “Running From Cops” podcast (6 parts) was excellent.

That sounded right to me, and according to Wiki, he was general manager of MSNBC from June 2006-October 2007.  He worked at MSNBC much longer, from 2001-2008.
