Perhaps emboldened by the shock Grammy he won a few months ago, Louis C.K. has announced that he's completed a new film called "Fourth of July," which he produced, co-wrote and co-stars in with fellow standup Joe List, which he hopes to self-distribute to theaters starting next month, with initial screenings in New York, Chicago and Boston concert halls:
Sorry, Louie, but I don't see Landmark picking this film up (even if they did show Woody Allen's last movie), let alone the big chains or the primary arthouse theaters. And as for not-for-profits like Chicago's Siskel Film Center at the School of the Art Institute, the only movie house with a land acknowledgement statement--no way.
