It’s definitely not NYPD Blue, but Jimmy Smits is back in the NYPD, however — just as in the Star Wars universe — he’s woefully underutilized. Overall the pilot is a jumbled mess of forced racial tensions, contrived misogyny, and bland comedy. But I am such fans of both Smits and Richard Kind that I am compelled to tune in again next week.

I’ve given this a few episodes. It’s good enough to keep watching… I feel like it’s building to something… but it better build fast, because it seems lacking in enough social media buzz to last a full season
