"Gunsmoke," the classic CBS Western, is showing up on the top 10 list of acquired series streaming--405 of its 645 episodes (the first six years were half-hours and syndicated as "Marshall Dillon") steaming on Peacock and Paramount+ are number 8 on the list (only "Family Guy" on Hulu, number one on the list [439 episodes], "Grey's Anatomy" on Hulu and Netflix [440] and "NCIS" on Paramount+, Hulu and Netflix [482] have more available episodes)--no surprise, most of the "Gunsmoke" audience is over 65:

Other top 10 lists in streaming are in the link--the top 10 acquired in Casey Kasem order are Showtime's "Yellowjackets" (Paramount+ and Netflix), "SpongeBob SquarePants" (Paramount+), "Gunsmoke," "Bob's Burgers" (Hulu), "Big Bang Theory" (Max), HBO's "The White Lotus" (Max), "Grey's," "NCIS," Australian ABC and BBC Studios' "Bluey" (Disney+) and "Family Guy."

I’ve been watching them… I’m not 65 yet.

The first ten seasons are really televised radio… more focused on the dialogue than the visuals, true to its roots. Eventually they started bringing in directors who worked with the actors on actually moving like humans. But I’m always impressed at how in depth stories can be told in those 30 minute episodes.

Full disclosure: LA station KNX 1070 am used to play the classic radio dramas in the late night hours, and I was a regular listener when I worked graveyard shifts. Gunsmoke and The Whistler were my two favorites.

CBS restored the original opens/credits to the half-hour shows when more recent deals were made for the B&W part of the library (e.g. the ex-Jim BAK-KERRRRRRR!!  channel INSP), but IYC, a collector of vintage film elements 'toobed an O/C for that syndicated version... for historical/preservation purposes only...

I have also been watching, though had to buy DvDs from eBay to watch first six seasons. Enjoying much more than I did when forced to watch with my grandpa, who loved it, when I was a kid.
