Nellie Andreeva at Deadline (link): This round, execs from the previous CW version -- who also worked with Tori Spelling on "So Notorious" -- join CBS-based Ghen Maynard, better known for helping bring shows like "Survivor" and "...Top Model" to Americans, to pitch multiple networks on the latest version, already sporting much of the original cast (Shannen was not among them as of now) and hinted back in March by Tori on Instagram as "exaggerated" compared to the earlier series...

Tori Spelling was not what made either 90210 successful. With her father gone, Tori is not a marquee player. Gonna tough to sell a reboot where she is the “big name” attached to it.

I usually cringe at the idea of reboots but 90210 could be an exception. Assuming the target audience is teens, they won't be tied to the earlier series and may even find them less relatable as technology and their use of it changes. The one thing they really shouldn't do is cling to the past as Tori Spelling isn't relevant to the audience.

Just to be clear, given its great difference from the original, its name is simply "BH90210", but the logo is similarly designed.

"Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith and several senior writers have quit the [series]... One source [told Variety] the dispute was over interference from two of the show’s lead actresses, while another noted that the writers were unhappy with one of the executives overseeing the project."

"Paul Sciarrotta (another staffer) has been named the new showrunner along with series’ creators Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler."

When showbiz veterans are interviewed, the question often comes up "What happens when the actors (or writers or directors) know that the show they're doing stinks?"

My future ex-wife Shannen has issued a response 

“Being a part of tv history is an honor but it also comes with some massive backlash. There has been many stories floating around about this show and me. One of the reasons I hesitated to say yes was for this crap. The only thing I’m a control freak over is my health. Trying to stay healthy and positive. I realized this morning, that I have a fear of doing what I love because of headlines like this. Not only because there is zero truth to it but because it lessens me and my journey, battle, experience with cancer. Why should I be scared to work? And why aren’t people held accountable for their fabricated stories? I refuse to be cast in the same villain role because “journalists” lack imagination and I certainly refuse to be cheapened as a survivor and as a woman by them. Yes, i am a strong woman. I have been thru hell and back. I am compassionate and caring. I’m multi faceted and not someone to be pigeon holed. I am a woman with my own story. Tori and Shannen did not work well together decades ago... there was no evidence to suggest that would change today, especially without the elder Spelling to moderate the tensions. Adding new, young people to the mix wasn’t going to help either, as they have their own ideas which are bound to conflict with the series veterans. 

It reminds me of Kevin Smith's story of working on a Die Hard set with Bruce Willis, with others telling Willis how a character he’s played for decades would act or speak.
