Conan released a special edition of his podcast focused on the fires. His family evacuated from Pacific Palisades. His home was spared, but residents won’t be allowed to return until services have been restored and the area is safe, which could take months.
His assistant and podcast cohost Sona lost her house in Alta Dena, and that was really the focus of the episode, allowing her a safe space to cry and laugh and talk through it. For those rightly sick of celebrities being the focus of so many stories about these fires, this wasn’t that. This was a chance to allow a married working mother of two time to process the devastation.
Those who know me personally know I’ve been through some sh*t. And my main way to process the bad stuff is to talk about it. When suicide claimed a member of my family, I sat down and recorded an hour long monologue for my podcast. I let it all out… then in a darkly comedic twist, everything I recorded instantly erased as soon as I finished… but I’d said what needed to be said, to God and to myself, and it allowed me to move on. Hopefully giving Sona a chance to talk about her circumstances will be beneficial to her. And others might benefit from a listen.
