Making it relevant via TV, he appeared in multiple films riffed on by the MST3k crew - perhaps most notably, "Mitchell", starring ("starring"?) Joe Don Baker & Merlin "Here's your loser actor bouquet" Olsen.

In the seventies and eighties, if you couldn't afford Burt Reynolds or Charles Bronson, you got John Saxon.

Dude was in so many 70s and 80s TV that I just assumed he was in a Colombo and that I might have to revise my Colombo murderer death watch list. But no, looks like he was never in any Colombo episode, NBC or ABC. He was in a Name of the Game episode, and was a regular on The Bold Ones (both NBC revolving TV drama movies, so Colombo adjacent I suppose).
