This was a good visual, and he got off a nice line last week. But still waiting for one of his deep dives into how his current masters illustrate the toxic job destroying, mission eroding impact of big corporate mergers. I assume they have a fairly long lead time on their long segments, so I will give him a few more weeks to get around to turning his probing eye directly on his new corporate daddy.

 It seems like under AT&T, Stankey didn't try to rein in Oliver for his remarks about management--as far as we know.  Could things be different with Zaslav and his ventriloquist John Malone?

But speaking of things going on at WBD, if Chris Licht is such a Republican, as some (including Keith Olbermann) are saying, why didn't he stop Colbert from doing all of those Trump jokes he's been doing for the last six years--including the time since December 2020 that he stopped doing the impersonation and has refused to say the word "Trump" or include the word "Trump" in graphics?

I don’t think Licht is a Republican. I think he is a good manager and a good corporate soldier. I’m worried his identification as a journalist is way down the list.

It's certainly well in the past. He's been not-a-journalist since 2005 at least, when he became a producer at MSNBC.

Well, even news producers traditionally see themselves as journalists, or at least as being in the journalism business. Licht, I’m afraid, sees himself as only being in the business of increasing shareholder value.

I've been listening to some of the episodes of Keith Olbermann's new podcast, and he has -nothing- good to say about Licht. Obviously, it's a "consider the source" thing, but the examples seem sourced enough to paint a very bad picture of Licht (and explains some of the weaknesses of Colbert's show).
